Former detective, survivor of the Red Hook Disaster of 1923
Malone is large, slightly robust, normal-featured, and capable-looking. However, there is a look in his eye that makes him seem a bit empty inside.
Malone is a former police detective who received notoriety for being the sole survivor of the Red Hook Disaster 1923.
He suffered a nervous breakdown after the disaster, and retired to Amityville, on Long Island.
Investigators visit Malone at his home on June 13, 1926. While he tries to be pleasant, Malone is in complete denial about what happened on that night in 1923, and develops a facial tick when investigators ask him about Red Hook and the disaster.
When the investigators persist with their questions, Malone eyes them crazily and recites the following:
“O friend and companion of night, thou who rejoicest in the baying of dogs and spilt blood, who wanderest in the midst of shades among the tombs, who longest for blood and bringest terror to mortals, Gorgo, Mormo, thousand-faced moon, look favorably on our sacrifices”
Afterward, he runs screaming in to his house. Whenknocks on his door to see if he’s alright, Malone pulls a .38 revolver and tells the investigators to leave.
Fortunately, the event is so jarring that it makes Malone confront his issues, and he resolves to return to Red Hook to take care of, “unfinished business.”
Malone, his old partner, Sergeant Donowitz, and six off-duty cops join forces with the investigators to raid the Tullio warehouse in the early morning of June 14, 1926. Malone, along with and Sergeant Donowitz, are able to pull Jerry Wells to safety before the Tullio Warehouse collapses under the wrath of the Outer God, Tulzscha.
Although grateful for their assistance, Malone threatens to shoot the investigators if they ever darken his door again…
