Ray's Place Barbershop

Ray's Place Barbershop

Ray’s Place is a barbershop once owned by Ray Brannigan. The shop is located at the corner of Madison Avenue and 59th Street, just one block from Central Park. The clientele is made up of the upper-class men who staff the booming advertising and sales agencies up and down Madison Avenue.

The front half of the shop houses a gentleman’s parlor, while the back half contains two barber chairs (one of which, due to Ray’s inability to retain a second barber, remains empty). In addition to providing quality haircuts, Ray’s Place offers cigars, cigarettes and, occasionally, top-shelf Tennessee whiskey.
